Scotland in Autumn
Old cities. Wild Highlands. A little Scottish mystery.
SCOTLAND, WITH ROOM TO MAKE IT YOUR OWN
Old cities and winding streets. Castles and clan stories. Wild Highland landscapes, legendary lochs and places you've heard about for years finally appearing outside the coach window.
This October, join The Milestone Society as we experience Scotland together.
Our seven-day Costsaver tour gives us the framework: transportation, hotels, a Travel Director and many of Scotland's essential sights are already taken care of. We'll travel from Glasgow through the Highlands and Isle of Skye before making our way to Edinburgh.
But not every moment is planned for you.
Costsaver offers optional Choice Experiences along the way, and I'll be choosing a few things I'd like to experience during our free time too. You're always welcome to join me, or head off and discover something completely different.
I'm experiencing Scotland for the first time on this trip too. I'm not here to tell you the "right" way to see it. I'm there to experience it alongside you.
Follow the itinerary. Add an adventure. Wander off on your own. Come find a ghost with me.
There's room for all of it.

Before the tour — Optional Glasgow Pre-Stay
Thinking about arriving early? I am too.
An optional pre-tour night in Glasgow is being considered for travellers who would like some extra time to settle in and explore before the tour begins. Flight options will be compared once 2027 schedules become available.
More details to come.
October 9 — Arrive Glasgow
Welcome to Scotland.
Settle into Glasgow and spend some time exploring before meeting our Costsaver Travel Director and fellow travellers. The evening is free to find dinner, wander the city or simply recover from the trip across the Atlantic.
Hotel: Ibis City Center
October 10 — Glasgow
We'll start with an orientation through Glasgow, seeing landmarks including Glasgow Cathedral, George Square, the People's Palace, Winter Gardens and River Clyde.
Then the day opens up for exploring.
Join Me: Glasgow Ghost Tour 👻
I'm planning to spend our second evening discovering some of Glasgow's darker stories. Details and pricing will be added once 2027 tours become available.
Included meal: Breakfast
Hotel: Ibis City Center
October 11 — Glasgow • Glencoe • Scottish Highlands
And, as it happens, it's my birthday.
We'll leave Glasgow behind and head north toward some of the landscapes Scotland is famous for. The route takes us toward Loch Lomond and through dramatic Glencoe, continuing past Fort William, the Commando Memorial and Ben Nevis before reaching our Highland hotel.
A Highland shepherd experience may also be available as an optional Costsaver Choice Experience — one I'm particularly interested in.
And somewhere along the way, I'm determined to find some birthday cake.
Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Hotel: Craiglynne
October 12 — Culloden • Loch Ness • Isle of Skye
This is a big Scotland day.
We'll visit Culloden Battlefield, travel past legendary Loch Ness, see Eilean Donan Castle and cross over to the Isle of Skye. After time surrounded by the island's landscapes, we'll make our way back through the Highlands.
Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Hotel: Craiglynne
October 13 — Pitlochry • St. Andrews • Edinburgh
We travel south through Pitlochry, where there will be time to explore or potentially join an optional visit to Blair Castle.
Then it's on to St. Andrews, the birthplace of golf, before arriving in Edinburgh.
Included meal: Breakfast
Hotel: Holiday Inn Edinburgh Zoo
October 14 — Edinburgh
We'll explore Edinburgh with a Local Guide, seeing New Town, Princes Street, the Royal Mile, Palace of Holyroodhouse and Edinburgh Castle.
Afterward, the city is ours.
An optional in-depth Edinburgh Castle visit may be available through Costsaver, while I'm already collecting a list of other possibilities for our free time.
Join Me option being researched: The Chocolatarium, because making and eating chocolate seems like a perfectly reasonable way to spend part of an afternoon in Edinburgh.
Included meal: Breakfast
Hotel: Holiday Inn Edinburgh Zoo
October 15 — Depart Edinburgh
One last Scottish breakfast before our Costsaver tour comes to an end.
Travellers can fly home from Edinburgh or choose to extend their stay and keep exploring.
Included meal: Breakfast
Costsaver Choice Experiences and Milestone Society Join Me options are currently being researched. Activities, availability and pricing are subject to change.
